The Hammond Downtown Development District announces “Hot August Stroll”, a major rebrand of its signature event “Hot August Night”. The refreshed event format offers the community’s Hot August favorites on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 8am to 8pm.
Hot August Night started in 1995 with a simple goal: invigorate Downtown Hammond with visitors, shoppers, and neighbors to support locally-owned businesses. In celebrating its 26th year, this event has lived on to propel a revitalization legacy and grow into a Downtown Hammond tradition.
With this updated brand, Hot August Stroll offers a full day of family-friendly and free-to-attend activities in the heart of historic Downtown Hammond. Musicians, local artists, and small businesses provide quality entertainment for all ages, cultivating a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that can only be found in Hammond, America!
Registration to participate is now open and Wine & Cheese Stroll tickets are on sale! Scroll down for more details on everything we have planned for this special day.
Shop and dine from dozens of locally-owned establishments all day. Our business owners open their doors to welcome you and many feature exclusive Hot August Stroll specials, sales, and other activities. Scroll down for a list of our Wine & Cheese Stroll Businesses and music hotspots.
Start the day at the Hammond Farmers & Artisans Market in Railroad Park. The market will feature over 40 farmers and artisan vendors with handmade items, produce, fresh food, coffee, treats, and more. The market will also have live music to enjoy as you shop with Joe Burns at 10AM and Anna Johnson at 11AM on the Railroad Park stage. Special market features: Bloody marys + mimosas by Benny's Place, Market Swag Bag Giveaways, Tangi Registrar of Voters voter drive, kid's activities, and more!
Accepts SNAP and offers $50 SNAP match per customer per market visit.
LionPawLooza kicks off the afternoon at 3:30pm in Cate Square Park. With a pep rally, autographs, and chants & cheer, this explosion of lion pride honors Hammond’s very own Southeastern Louisiana University. Lion fans will get a chance to meet and greet SLU spirit squads, student-athletes, coaches, and Roomie the Lion.

Featuring the following businesses for the Wine & Cheese Stroll: Concord Family Dental, RAM Properties, The Brown Door, Fleur de Lis Title & Law, Movement Mortgage, Milk & Honey: The Beauty Bar, Realty Executives Florida Parishes, W Salon, and Rent Louisiana.
