Explore the vibrancy of historic Downtown Hammond!

Hot August Stroll, a FREE day-long celebration of local businesses, art, music, and culture, will return to historic Downtown Hammond on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 10am to 9pm.


Hosted by the Hammond Downtown Development District (DDD) since 1995, Hot August has invigorated Downtown Hammond with visitors, shoppers, and neighbors to support locally-owned businesses. Each year offers a lively display of nearly 100 small businesses and dozens of local musicians & artists providing quality entertainment for all ages – cultivating a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that can only be found in Hammond, America!

Merchant Activities (all-day)

Shop and dine from dozens of locally-owned establishments all day. Our business owners open their doors to welcome you and many feature exclusive Hot August Stroll specials, sales, and other activities. Find more info on the brochure below!

Hammond Farmers & Artisans Market

Our favorite farmers market will operate normal hours on Hot August Stroll! 

8AM-Noon in Railroad Park

Listening Local Stage

Featuring several local musicians, the Listening Local Stage in Railroad Park will fill the air with music from 10am-Noon during the farmers market and will pick back up from 2-8pm. 

LCDC Kid's Zone

Located at the Louisiana Children's Discovery Center, the Hot August Kid's Zone will take place from 10am-Noon with plenty of fun activities for your kiddos!

MAIN STAGE

Main Stage in Cate Square Park (4:30-9pm)

The Main Stage will once again be located in Cate Square Park will feature performances from 4:30-9pm.

LionPawLooza

This outpouring of lion pride includes a pep rally, autographs, and chants & cheers that celebrate Hammond’s famed Southeastern Louisiana University. Lion fans will get a chance to meet and greet SLU spirit squads, student-athletes, coaches, and the one and only Roomie the Lion. 

LionPawLooza will begin in Cate Square Park at 4:30PM.

Will Vance & The Kinfolk

We are also thrilled to host popular local southern rock-and-roll band, Will Vance & The Kinfolk!

Will Vance & The Kinfolk will take the stage from 5:30PM to 6:45PM.

Headliner: Amanda Shaw

We are excited to be hosting Amanda Shaw, Louisiana-born fiddler, singer/songwriter, and 2020 inductee to the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame! 

Amanda Shaw will take the stage from 7PM until the event ends at 9PM

Wine & Cheese Stroll

Wine & Cheese Stroll (4-8pm)

Afternoon festivities will start at 4pm with the adult-friendly Wine & Cheese Stroll, hosted in partnership with the Hammond Regional Arts Center. Our celebrated wine stroll offers curated wine and cheese pairings available for tasting at dozens of downtown businesses. In addition, certain downtown businesses will be offering alternatives to wine & cheese with their specially crafted sips & snacks.

Tickets will be available for $35 if purchased by August 23rd. Limited tickets will be available on-site for $40. Individuals must be 21 years or older to participate.

This application is for any brick-and-mortar business within the DDD that plan to host any activities during Hot August Stroll. Please tell us everything you have planned to include you in Hot August Stroll promotions! Businesses located within the DDD, but not within walking distance of Hot August Stroll activities, may set up with a booth in a designated area.

We are seeking local musicians to play at our 'Listening Local' stage in Railroad Park from 10AM-12PM and 2PM-8PM during Hot August Stroll.

This application is for any artist vendors that plan to participate in Hot August Stroll. To participate in Hot August Stroll this year as an artist you can either purchase a 10x10 booth space on Charles St (4-9pm) OR be paired with a brick-and-mortar business in downtown (4-8pm).

Businesses located outside the DDD that would like to participate in Hot August Stroll may purchase a vendor booth space to set up on Charles St. from 4-9pm.

The success of Hot August Stroll depends on a group of dedicated volunteers! All volunteers will receive a DDD t-shirt as a small thanks.
